Trance

It was a dream
It was not a dream
But it was a clear trance
And I shall write it down

From outside, it kept coming
Jarring from a metallic symphony
Of mangled notes, tones
Pace and lyrics into my cell

It was horrific till
My shivering self, being battered
By chills seeping through the
Cracks in the adobe walls,
Picked the song

I curled.
What atomic constitution!
Despite grimes like bombs
Sprayed on the dark fay
By specimens of beggars,
Her instruments remain potent

Imagine them taking
Mrs. Awali’s cubs’ wilderness energies!
I marveled and mumbled gibbers
With each quiver of my lips

But alas, it was me alone
The emptiness in our teeming block
Whose sandy soles were shrinking,
Could not give such allowance

Take grey landlady, who dare
Demand for a calm air, her
Jingling purse ought to be
Stuffed by her monthly monies
But they are lost to large pouches

Strangely with sublime impunity,
Her threats, curses and beseeches
That they later became, were
Damned by the miscreants

Maybe it was not their making
Maybe it was the possession that
Took the composers of the song,
The lyricists that worded it and
The painter of the banner that
Dances to it; maybe

Whatever it was
The rendition continued till I woke
But really, did I even sleep?
